You+, your one stop shop for health and wellbeing

What is You+?

You+ is a new lifestyle shop in the centre of Chelmsley Wood where you can get all the support to eat healthier, be the right weight for you, be more active, stop smoking, cope with stress and get advice on all the other health matters that have a big difference on your life.

Help and Advice for Stopping Smoking

Smokers are four times more successful at kicking the habit when they get help from the Solihull NHS Stop Smoking Service. Trained stop smoking advisors are on hand to provide one-to-one and group support and can also give you up to eight weeks of Nicotine Replacement Therapy for a one-off prescription charge (or free if you are exempt from paying for prescriptions). Wednesday 2pm – 5pm and Saturday 10am – 1pm and 1.30pm   3pm (Appointment Only).

Breastfeeding Support and Antenatal Information

A mother's milk gives a baby the very best start in life and offers maximum protection against infections, such as flu. We offer advice on infant feeding, breastfeeding support, general pregnancy information and early parenthood. Friday 10am – 12pm.

Weight Management

Specialists from North Solihull Weight Management can help you to make 1 small change to help you lose weight, be more active and prepare healthy, great tasting meals. Monday 12pm – 2pm and Tuesday 3pm  – 5pm .

Sexual Health

You+ can help you to make healthier choices about your sex life. Pop-in for free information and advice, free condoms, Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing kits (for those aged 15 - 24) and pregnancy tests. Monday to Saturday 10.45am – 5.30pm (11.45am start on Monday and Friday).

Health MOTs

These checks assess your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and stroke. Blood pressure checks, sugar levels and cholesterol (conditions apply).Trained staff at You+ will discuss how you can reduce your risk and be able to take small steps to maintain and improve your health. Monday to Saturday 10.45am – 5.30pm (11.30am start on Monday and Friday).

Health Trainers

The Health Trainers are on-hand to offer one-to-one support, motivation, and personalised information to anyone who wants to make a healthy lifestyle change. Monday to Friday 9.30am – 5.00pm, Saturday 9.30am – 5.30pm.

Solihull Healthy Minds

Get information on how to access Solihull Healthy Minds - a new service designed to Improve Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT). IAPT services have been introduced to ensure that people are referred quickly to the most appropriate support for low to moderate anxiety and depression. IAPT services are designed to get the best results and help people to help themselves, providing support to get back to enjoying life and engaging with work or daily activities.  Thursday 9.30am  – 5pm  (Appointment only).

Advice for Carers

Solihull Carers Centre supports those who care for someone to lead a happy, fulfilling life. We provide local support for local people who look after family or friends. We can help you by providing practical information and advice, emotional support, home visits, assistance with form filling, support groups, social activities and events. Wednesday 10am – 1pm.

Advice for Older People

Age UK supports older people and their carers by providing all the information and advice that will enable them to make decisions on issues such as health, benefits, pension, attendance allowance, will writing and much more. Tuesday 10am -12noon.

Alcohol Awareness and Misuse Support

if you would like to talk to someone about your own or someone else's alcohol use, Solihull Integrated Addiction Services are here for you. Mondays, 9.30am – 5pm (Appointment only)

And now... Become Happier, Healthier more energetic by walking!

Would you like to take up some gentle exercise and meet new people?Regular walking can contribute towards improving both physical and mental health. Walking can help reduce blood pressure, the risk of developing heart disease and type II Diabetes as well as reduce stress and anxiety. Every other Saturday, every other Tuesday 10.15am gathering for 10.30 Start! (1 hour). Please give us a ring for the exact dates!
